Spray & Forget™ was started out of necessity! One evening, my wife and I were returning to our new home that I had built just 4 years prior when we noticed some very dark black streaks on all of our neighbors’ homes. The neighborhood was fairly new with beautiful new homes, landscaping and an overall clean appeal except for these ugly roof stains. It really stuck out like a sore thumb once we noticed it! When I arrived at my home I looked at the front side roof and did not see any stains (South Side). However, when I looked at the back side of my roof (North Side) there they where, dark black stains everywhere!

I decided to do what I always did at that time when I needed a small repair or upgrade for my home. I went to the local super hardware store to look for a solution. To my surprise, I could not find anything available to clean my roof. So, I returned home and decided to search the internet for a solution to my problem. I learned a lot through my internet searching. First, I learned that those stains on my roof where actually a wind carried algae called Gloeocapsa Magma and that there was not a safe, reliable roof cleaner on the market! The current recommended products and services were either unsafe to use or could cause damage to my asphalt shingles and/or landscaping.

The available products contained bleach or sodium hydroxide (lye) which could burn my skin, eyes, and possibly cause serious damage to my landscaping and asphalt shingles. Moreover, the available recommended service used Power Washing or Brushing techniques which I was told could cause the asphalt granules to be loosened or removed from my shingles degrading my roof shingle performance, life and voiding my warranty!

During my research, my wife and I noticed that the Roof Stain problem was not isolated to our neighborhood. Almost every home we passed had the roof stain problem. Homes from $50,000 to $1,000,000 and more where infected with the roof algae! My wife and I decided that a safe, reliable cleaner, if we could create one, would be very marketable and solve many problems.

Through months of research and testing my wife and I came up with a new chemical combination that we decided to call Spray & Forget™since no rinsing was necessary! Spray & Forget was developed to be safe to both human health and the environment. It will not burn your skin, eyes, or damage your landscaping. In addition, Spray & Forget™ does not require any damaging power washing and/or brushing techniques. In fact, it does not require any rinsing at all! So that’s our story! Our business is a conglomeration of family and friends that was created to solve our problem. We hope we can help you with yours!
